Groundbreaking at 929 W. 16th Street will lead to expanded capabilities

Hard hats are in vogue as construction begins in earnest at Printing Partners’ 929 W. 16th location. “It’s gratifying to see walls going up after a lengthy planning process,” admits owner Joel O’Brien. The new walls will encompass a 15,000-foot addition to accommodate new equipment including a 40-inch color press.

The additional space will provided much-needed room for production, shipping and mailing. According to O’Brien the expansion is on track to be completed this summer.

Kodak digital NexPress opens a new world of color

Printing Partners has installed the first Kodak NexPress in Indiana. The new digital NexPress combines Heidelberg press technology with Kodak imaging to create offset quality in a digital environment. “This is an ideal complement to our offset equipment,” says owner Michael O’Brien. It brings offset quality to short-run digital color.

O’Brien calls the NexPress a “marketing engine” rather than a press. “The NexPress produces quality variable pieces with excellent image quality and color in a completely digital, environmentally controlled environment.” With these capabilities the NexPress is ideally suited for short-run color, one-to-one marketing material.

Discovery Week brings world-class pianists to Indianapolis

The piano takes center stage at venues throughout Indianapolis during Discovery Week April 23-29. This week-long celebration of all things piano is the culmination of the American Pianists Association’s Classical Fellowship Awards. According to APA artistic director Joel Harrison, the week will end with the selection of two Fellows whose two-year fellowships are valued at more than $75,000.

Harrison calls the Classical Fellowship Award unique in its approach. “The format of the competition allows the candidate to showcase his or her talents in performance settings,” he explains. “The focus is on individual talent rather than creating a competitive environment,” he adds.

Printing Partners invites clients to attend the Open Gala Concert at Hilbert Circle Theatre on April 23 at 5:00 p.m. The concert features concerto performances by 2003 Fellows Michael Sheppard and Thomas Rosenkranz with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. In addition, past Fellow Christopher Taylor will present a world premiere of a commissioned work by Derek Bermel and fortepianist David Schrader will play a Mozart concerto.

For a complimentary ticket please visit www.printingpartners.net/apa. The American Pianists Association is a Partners Grant recipient and long-time Printing Partners’ client. “When we partner with APA we like to be actively involved in an event rather than just print,” explains Printing Partners owner Michael O’Brien.

Printing Partners announces Partners Grants

Printing Partners announces its 2006 Partners Grants according to owner Michael O'Brien. The Grants originated two years ago as a means to direct the company’s sponsorships and in-kind giving.

“Each year we budget more than $200,000 for grants,” says O’Brien. “Our focus is to work with existing clients to help them enhance existing marketing efforts or to underwrite a development project,” he adds.

The Partners Grants also create an opportunity for creative latitude. “When we partner on a project we try to find ways to reduce cost or enhance return so we can help an organization achieve a marketing or development goal,” explains O’Brien. “The IRT Celebrity Radio Show is a good example of where we make an extra creative investment in a project.”

The Partners Grants are listed on our web site at www.printingpartners.net, on our home page click on the Partners Grant logo. The on-line application is available now for 2007 and applications will be considered through November 30. Next year’s recipients will be announced on January 31, 2007.
